Very glad to re-establish contact -- not that I was ever "in contact" as such, but I got onto your blog via Lucy at Attic 24, and used to enjoy your commentary as much as your patterns. Substack is at a marvellous stage right now, like a giant, free coffee-house. There are some big tables where everyone talks about Politics, Health, Writing, and even Craft, and there's always a chair and a welcome. But there are also heaps of little tables where one or two people have found someone like-minded. Maybe they talk about miniatures, or watches, or being a parent, or whatever comes into their heads. They can be spilling their heart or just having a friendly chat, or both, or neither, as relationships develop. I love it (I'll love it better when I figure out its mechanisms). I hope you will too.

Yes absolutely, I'm really enjoying it right now! It's been easy to find interesting and relevant things to read, which I'm really enjoying. It feels relatively free of the usual 'noise' too which is also very nice.

Exactly! Just do what's suits your lifestyle and what time scale you have to do it in. There's a saying, you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. I may change my work schedule. I'm a self employed hairstylist, and, after over 40 yrs my knees are feeling it. I'm now part time in my wee private studio, a sole trader. I know full well my "changes" won't suit everyone. Loyalty, I've discovered is fickle. Some will support my changes, some will move elsewhere. So be it. Sandra, look after your personal wants and wellbeing first. X

There is no harm in trying and starting something new. I always say if you don’t try you will never know if it works or not. I like reading blogs. X

I think "change" can be a positive. No harm in trying a new way to connect with existing and new followers. If it doesn't work for you, you can revert back! Just have a go. x

Absolutely! I used to worry about these things and if it would be the ‘right’ thing to do. But now I’m thinking exactly that. Just try it. As you say, it’s not like it needs to be permanent! Thank you.

I look forward to reading your Blogs again. When I first looked at Substack I did think it looked rather like another Twitter with the layout, but once I found your page I became more relaxed.

Thanks so much! I think that will have been the 'notes' bit, which seems a bit more social media-ish. It's not as bad as 'the others' yet and I have found it useful for finding other things to read but I do also like that you don't need to worry about that part at all if you don't want too!

I'm glad you found my page to be a bit more relaxing though, that's definitely my aim! It's lovely to chart with you again Lynette, I'll look forward to catching up more. ☺️

I found you here via your YouTube this morning. I miss blogs and blogging but they are quite the slog compared to SubStack. I look forward to following your content hare.

I echo Cheryl’s comment above. I’ve followed your blogs for quite a while although a bit late to the party, enjoyed your vlogs also. There appears to be a lot of pressure to “keep up with others” on some social media platforms which must be daunting. This platform appears a bit more relaxed and free flowing, enabling you to take a breather and see where it takes you.

I get this! I used to blog way back when and just left my blogs but stopped writing. There was a wonderful connective energy back then. Your blog is where I initially found you. I never commented but when I got into you YouTube podcasts, I constantly started commenting and felt connected when you commented back. I will look forward to reading these posts now too.

There really was a great energy back then. I had thought that there was no way to re-create that any more. Maybe there still isn't but this feels like it might be.

Also are you Heidi Kudijer on You Tube? If so, I know exactly who you are!
